Niren Sengupta (b.1940)is an acclaimed Indian artist. His works are a blend of geometric shapes, lines and colour. He renders the lines of the faces and integrates the geometric objects into the rest of the space, almost like completing a sculpture. He is influenced by the spirituality of Buddhism and missionaries, which aids him in expressing his visual language. His meticulousness with colours and contrasting hues well defines his forms.

He has several solo and esteemed group exhibitions to his credit. He has been honoured with many accolades, including the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) Award and NBT Award in New Delhi, among many others. Sengupta was the former Principal of the College of Art, New Delhi and a founder member of 'Gallery 26' in Kolkata. He holds a degree from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, and studied at the Government College of Art and Crafts, Kolkata.
