Reena Singh (b.1974) has spent nearly a decade educating herself at Banaras and portrays a different kind of life experienced in the narrow streets and various city forms, which became a part of her visual vocabulary. The abstraction symbolizes different times, lights and places in her paintings through bright colours. The celebration and fulfilment of life are reflected in her artworks. Reconstructing the narrow streets, Ganga Ghat, Purani Haveli, and Chowk-Chauraha through her abstract style gives a new dimension collectively. The city attracts people of all ages from all over the world.
Singh earned her MFA in Painting from the Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. Her works have been part of collections at NASA (USA), Italy, London, Mauritius, Spain (Barcelona), Germany, and different cities in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata).
